Our statewide membership includes over 200 parent
leaders who are participating in a variety of leadership roles including
leading support groups, sitting on Local Advisory Councils and Collaboratives,
contacting legislators to advocate for legislative changes, reducing
the stigma associated with mental illness through speaking engagements
and mentoring more parents to become involved in the network and in
leadership activities.
Membership to our network is open to anyone who meets the criteria
of a parent leader. A parent leader is defined as a caregiver of a child with a mental health disorder who is contributing to the improvement of the children’s mental system of care. This effort goes beyond the care and need of the parent’s child and family. It also more broadly benefits other families who are struggling to raise a child with a mental health disorder. We encourage all parents who are involved in leadership activities or who would like to take on a more active leadership role in their community to join us! |
